Creation

At LOCA we get super-excited to help founders establish their brands. Every great idea needs a great story and LOCA is there to help write it. Positioning, brand strategy, identity, creation of a brand book and a pitch deck are all tools in the LOCA arsenal to send a brand out into the world.

Check out a few of our favorite stories.

GAMUT

Mindy Scheiner founder of the Runway of dreams showed the fashion world that creating adaptive clothing for people with disabilities (PWDs) was not just the right thing to do, it was smart business.  Mindy came to LOCA to help her turn this into a money-making proposition to help companies and industries expand and reach this 1 billion person audience authentically and with integrity. Gamut Management, a leader in the market of inclusivity and diversity, incorporates values in their business. They represent the largest minority in media, fashion, research, and more. As the world begins to embrace diversity in all its forms and consumer-centric companies realize the business growth opportunity among this target, GAMUT is there to connect its members to those brands.

GAMUT is rebranding the way people with disabilities are viewed, marketed to and represented in pop culture. Gamut spreads its platform across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and their website. Gamut services include talent management, product development, and targeted marketing. The rebranding of disabilities in media opens up a new market for PWDs, businesses, and agencies.

As an advisor and mentor for the New York Fashion Tech Lab, Julie has played a major role in the program for several years. NYFTL functions by taking dedicated women-led, fashion focused technology companies, and giving them the mentorship and resources they need to take their companies to the next level. Every year the selected applicants work for months on advancing their businesses, and then the NYFTL has a showcase for all of the companies where they present their work to industry professionals.

As an advisor to NYFTL since its inception, Julie has been involved in every season of the program. She brought them into Spring Place for their major events and helped connect companies with networks that would help them grow. As the program has grown in size and popularity, Julie has remained in the expert network of advisors and continued to assist production of the NYFTL from its larger spaces.

APRES

Removing the motherhood penalty for women returning to the workforce.

Jennifer Gefsky and Niccole Kroll noticed from personal experience that there was no place for women to go for guidance when they were ready to return to the workforce or a place for employers to find untouched talent, and so they created Après. Après is a digital recruiting platform for the more than 40 million professional, college-educated women in the U.S. who are looking to return to or pivot within the workforce after time at home with their families. Après connects these women with companies seeking talent and diversity to fill the mid-to-senior level roles that are open throughout American corporations.

Joining forces, Après and LOCA created the essential digital network for experienced, professional women returning-to or pivoting-within the workforce and companies seeking diversified talent. With the launch of Après’ podcast called “The After Show”, women were able to share success stories and discuss the challenges of being a woman in business, all while inspiring and educating the listeners. Après is the most effective technology platform connecting experienced, professional women with each other and with companies seeking diversified talent.
