Activations

There are media plans and creative ads, Instagram stories and launch parties, but LOCA likes to think well beyond the traditional. We mine insights into what’s next in culture to activate a brand in the most unusual, experimental, and memorable ways.

Check out some of the engaging activations we have put together.

Michelin

Michelin returns to LA with a series of unique culinary collaborations.

LOCA brought Michelin and Spring Place Beverly Hills together for the launch of the Michelin Guide LA. Working closely with both brands LOCA created a series of unique culinary events to celebrate the guide’s return to LA. To kick off the program, several Michelin-rated chefs from the 2019 guide were invited to participate in a one-of-a-kind, walk-around tasting event. LOCA devised an evening filled with rock star chefs, music, food and cocktails and of course the best of LA in attendance.

From perfecting the invitations to coordinating with the chefs, LOCA worked hands on with Spring Place and Michelin for every step of the process. With multiple famed chefs being welcomed to showcase their dishes, along with guest lists of people from all over the country, it was a busy few days making sure all went smoothly. Not only was the event a hit, but everyone in attendance got to enjoy delicious, award-winning cuisine in beautiful Beverly Hills.

The Table at Spring Place

Kicking off a dinner series on the road to the Grammy’s with Chef JJ

When Spring Place wanted to create a new culinary experience to broaden their reach within the NY Food Community, LOCA envisioned a short-term residency during key cultural events in NYC.  The program would kick off the Grammy’s return to New York and who better to bring it home than Chef JJ. Chef Joseph Johnson, aka Chef JJ, a graduate of the CIA, a product of a multi-cultural, well-traveled upbringing is almost as well known for his unique playlists as his globally-minded cuisine.

LOCA proposed that the 30-under-30 chef-on-the rise host a nightly family style musical dinner party at Spring Place. A new JJ@Spring Place creative platform was developed for the invites, the dining room, the menus, the waitstaff and -of course - the musical vibe.  LOCA further developed and executed the communications plan, press and co-hosted a number of influencer dinners throughout the week drawing attention to Spring Place and JJ who has since gained recognition for his two new restaurants - Henry at the Life Hotel in midtown and Field Trip in Harlem.

Talk Series

Loving Better with Laura Brown & One Love

Julie moderated a conversation between InStyle Editor in Chief Laura Brown and One Love Foundation CEO Katie Hood. The topic of the conversation was healthy love: what does it look like, what are the signs of unhealthy love, and how you can intervene when a friend or a loved one is in an unhealthy relationship. Katie Hood started the One Love Foundation to educate young people and adults about the signs of an abusive relationship, and how we can redirect the conversation so that it is easier to recognize and understand, and thus intervene.

Laura Brown has been a long supporter and friend of Hood, using InStyle as a platform to help spread the message of the One Love Foundation. One Love has educated hundreds of thousands of people around the country with its training in schools and offices. Julie moderated the talk between these powerful women, asking the important questions and steering the conversation in the most productive and educational direction.
